Towards OM - An Object-Oriented Implementation of Mantra

Mantra is a shell for hybrid knowledge representation and hybrid inferences. It supports three diierent formalisms: logic, frames, and semantic networks. Mantra was developed in Common Lisp at Karl-sruhe by Bittencourt and Calmet. The OM project seeks to re-engineer Mantra through the use of design patterns, the OMT notation, and C++ as the implementation language. The logic module forms the heart of Mantra. It uses Patel-Schneider's four-valued logic and a decidable inference algorithm, called t-entailment. Here we report on the design and implementation of the logic module, and the corresponding algorithms for uniication and t-entailment.
